Is there any Deductible on the policy?
No.
Can I have only the building or Home Structure insured under the policy?
Yes you can have only the building or Home Structure insured @ net premium rate of 0.2% of the total value of the building.
What is meant by Home Structure?
Buildings or home structure mean the home, built of bricks, stone, or concrete, the external surface of the roof constructed of slates, tiles, concrete and asphalt etc.
Can the policy be canceled?
The insurance policy can be canceled any time on your request in which case the company will retain premium at the short period rate for the time the policy has been in force. The insurance company may also at any time terminate the policy by sending a seven days’ notice period to you at your last known address in which case the company shall be liable to refund the premium on pro rata basis for the unexpired term from the date of cancellation provided no claim has been taken on the policy.
When will my policy be effective?
Your policy will be effective on the day of receipt of your completed and signed Proposal Form along with the full payment.
What do I do in case of any change in the property insure?
Simply inform us in writing and we shall amend the policy schedule and send you the document.

What is meant by Home Contents?
Home contents mean household goods and personal effects belonging to you or your family members residing within your home. They also include furniture, fixtures, furnishings, home appliances etc.
Contents exclude:
• Portable equipment ( e.g. mobile phones, laptops etc )
• Any living creatures
• Permanent fixtures and fittings
• Electrically or mechanically propelled or assisted vehicles of all types
What is the coverage under the policy?
The policy covers Fire, Explosion, Earthquake, Rain, Cyclone, Storm, Tempest, Riot & Strike Damage, falling Aircraft and other Aerial Devices, Water Damage due to burst pipelines Malicious Act, Impact of Motor Vehicles, Burglary & Housebreaking.
What is the coverage period?
The policy will be valid for one year and will be renewed at expiry. The premium, other terms and conditions will decided at the time of renewal keeping your claims experience in consideration.
What is covered if I live in a rental property?
Only your home contents are covered (Your land lord must purchase a separate policy to insure the home structure)
What if my home contents are worth more than the amount of insurance coverage offered by Home Insurance i.e. my home contents are underinsured?
If your home contents are underinsured and you suffer a loss of insured contents, your claim amount will be reduced by the same proportion as that of underinsurance.

Is it necessary to have the Home Structure covered along with Household contents, Cash and Jewelry?
No, you may only have the Household contents, Cash and Jewelry covered under the policy. However, along with contents if you would like to have the Home Structure insured, the same can be covered by charging a net premium rate of 0.2% of the total value of the building.
Are my home contents covered if I shift my house?
No, loss or damage to contents while in transit from one house to another are not covered under the policy.
If I am a tenant and the landlord’s property gets damaged by an insured event will it be covered?
No, the landlord’s property is not covered by the tenant’s insurance policy.
Will my Jewelry/Cash be covered if any mishap occurs outside my house?
If any mishap occurs outside the house your Jewelry/Cash are not covered.

In how many days will my claim be settled?
TPL Insurance will settled the claim within seven working days subject to submission of required documents.

No your policy will not be cancelled if you take a claim.
How do you determine the value of my home contents when I lodge a claim?
This is based on a loss survey which takes place after the claim is filed with the insurance company. The surveyor goes to the claimant and investigates the claim and issues survey report detailing the exact circumstances of the incident. In case of damages resulting from events other than events other than burglary, photographs are taken by the surveyor.
When will I receive my policy documents?
The original policy documents will be sent to you directly by TPL Insurance (Formerly TPL Insurance) within five working days of receiving the duly completed and signed Proposal Form, receipt of pre insurance risk inspection report from the surveyor in case the home structure is insured and the premium payment of the policy.
What is covered under Identification Documents?
The expenses borne due to loss or theft of the following personal Identification Documents from the home belonging to you or your other family members:
• Computerized National Identity Card
• Passport
• Driving License

How many claims can be lodged on the policy?
There is no restriction on the number of claims that can be lodged on the policy.
Can the building insured be used for any other commercial purpose besides being used as a residential dwelling where I and my family members reside with me?
No, the building can only be used for residential purpose.
What are the documents required at the time of claim?
In case of fire loss to home contents, burglary or house breaking

• Cash Memos, Receipts, Guarantee Cards etc must be kept carefully as they may be required in case of lost or stolen items at the time of settlement of the claim.
Is my house insured if it remains unoccupied?
The claim shall not be payable in the event of the premises being left unoccupied by day or night for a continuous period exceeding 72 hours in respect of Jewelry or seven days for other contents and 15 days in the course of any one year of insurance.

Can I enhance my limits of Contents/Jewelry Cash or do I have to switch to another package?
Both options are available, you can either have the limits enhanced depending on the amounts by which the limit is increased or switch to another package if the increase in amounts is more or less equal to the limit of liability given in the other packages.
